Major Crackdown on Counterfeit Parts Leads to Seizure of Parts Worth AED 3 Million
Dubai Police and authorities, in collaboration with Mobis Parts Middle East (MPME) and our UAE Intellectual Property Agency, ATB, have successfully dismantled a counterfeit auto parts operation in a decisive enforcement action. The operation, conducted on March 20, 2025, involved a well-coordinated raid on a trading company in Dubai suspected of distributing counterfeit Hyundai and KIA parts.
The crackdown was initiated after one of our Saudi Arabia’s official distributors raised concerns over a trader offering counterfeit parts in the region. Following a meticulous analysis of the sample part images and verification of genuinity, through Hyundai Mobis Mobile app and other means, authorities swiftly acted to investigate and intercept the illegal activity. Investigative teams, led by ATB researchers, identified the trading company and tracked its warehouse location, where a substantial stockpile of counterfeit parts was uncovered.
The inspection, which lasted over five hours due to the sheer quantity of goods, resulted in the seizure of more than 38,000 counterfeit parts valued at over AED 3,074,301 ($837,000).
The successful operation underscores the vital collaboration between MPME, ATB’s investigative and legal experts, and Dubai Police. The joint efforts reaffirm the commitment to protecting consumers and maintaining market integrity by eliminating fraudulent and potentially dangerous auto parts.
